For the fourth time, the international conference “Functional Integrated nano Systems - nanoFIS” took place from November 2nd to 4th, 2020, organized by the Materials Center Leoben Research GmbH, Techkonnex High-Tech Promotion and the Nano-Optics Group of the Karl-Franzens University Graz. However, different than originally planned: instead of at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz as in previous years, nanoFIS 2020 was successfully held as a pure online event.
A completely new situation for the participants and the organization team alike. Nevertheless, 90 speakers from 18 nations were welcomed, for whom time differences of up to 16 hours (Taiwan vs. California) were not really a problem.
Once again, renowned researchers were there as keynote speakers: Max Shulaker, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mark Brongersma, professor at Stanford University and Ulrike Diebold, professor at the Technical University of Vienna, as well as a number of renowned invited speakers from different nations. With their current research results, they all showed how nanotechnology will have a very central influence on the future development of our technological infrastructure.
